Today I had a real treat, stopped to pick blackberries. Only 7 weeks until we start the walk from Balkerne Gate, Colchester.
August 11thOver the last couple of weeks, my training has had to be put on the back burner. I was bitten or stung by a series of very nasty insects, which resulted in three weeks of being very unwell and being prescribed some very strong antibiotics. Now recovered, I’m not inclined to walk far because it’s so hot. Once the weather cools I will begin my training again. Only six weeks today until we start our trek north!

Only 5 weeks until we start walking north towards Norfolk. Today the walk turned out to be shorter than originally planned. Walked from the reservoir to Gt Wigborough Church and back again. I had thought we were walking to Peldon but that was further than we had time for. The church was closed due to renovations, but it looked really interesting as we spotted several stained glass windows.

Four weeks until the start of our trek north. In the last few weeks I’ve taken a series of shorter walks - at this stage I don’t want to over exercise! Tomorrow I’m taking advice from an expert, who, I hope will be able to advise and help with stretching exercises, thereby helping my overworked muscles!

Walking most days but not long distances. Walked for quite a few hours on Thursday and at least an hour most days. Noticed these lovely berries the other day, sad to think summer is almost over.

Set off on a mini walk today, deviated from the path to see this wonderful topiary - very impressed. Just shows how gardens can look if a small community looks after them.
Only walked just over 3 miles.

Drove to Frinton this morning for a walk to Walton-on-the-Naze. Stopped to have my photo taken at the pier.
My Fitbit showed our round trip was a shade over 4 miles, it felt like much more!
