Update January 2020
Between Christmas and New Year I've been increasing my walking - I'm now walking on a regular bases. Earlier this week it jumped to 6.5 miles in one day! This was probably a mistake as it caused a problem with my left foot. I'm now being more realistic and today quite happily walked 3.5 miles. Slow and steady for the rest of this month... although I have another 6 mile walk coming up next week!We now have a firm date for leaving Colchester and walking north, looking for and at times walking along Peddars Way. We’ll be leaving on Monday 27th April at 10.30 am!
Marina (Rina) Adams, has volunteered to walk the full distance with me. I've known Rina for more than twenty years, as my late husband, Tony was friends with both her and her husband John. Tony and John got to know each other when Tony was a freelance cameraman for Anglia TV and John was a photographer for the local newspapers and Photographic Manager for Essex County Newspapers.
On Tuesday we walked 3 miles out of Colchester to Mile End before walking back to my house. Clocked up another 6 Miles today.
Not my most flattering photo.
Wednesday
We set off to Dedham, Suffolk to walk the very muddy pastures and lanes in the rain. Another very unflattering photo of me but at least I didn't fall over in the mud! Finally made it out of Colchester, heading for Nayland. Rina standing next to the Gt Hawkesley sign. Walked just a little over 6 miles today!

This first photo (below) shows me trying to take a selfie looking into bright sunlight - I’m unable to see a thing! Rina and I were out on our weekly walk, this time we made it into Suffolk, and clocked up 7.5 miles. Each time we’ve walked we have tried to follow sections of the route we’ll be taking when we set off on 27th April. As for the selfie I need a bit more practice!Made it to just beyond Nayland today, before walking back to where we left the car. On the way out I slipped on very steep muddy steps while joining a footpath. I didn’t hurt myself as I slid on my back all the way to the bottom of the grassy bank at the side of the steps!
It was a lovely day for the walk, blue skies but a chilly wind, should have worn my hat as it was breezy around my ears!
Slightly better selfie on our way back having had a cup of coffee at the Blue Owl.
